Christina Yung

Vice President, Data Science

Christina K. Yung, Ph.D. is Vice President, Data Science at Indoc Research. Dr. Yung has an interdisciplinary background in bioinformatics, computational biology, and cancer genomics. She is experienced and passionate in working with cross functional teams to develop large-scale data platforms for enhancing data sharing and accelerating scientific discoveries.

Previously, Dr. Yung was the Director of Genome Informatics and Principal Research Scientist at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR). She led the International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) Data Coordination Centre to develop the Accelerating Research in Genomic Oncology (ARGO) Data Platform and the ICGC Data Portal. Other compelling data platforms include the NCI Genomic Data Commons (GDC) Data Portal, the NCI Human Cancer Model Initiatives (HCMI) Searchable Catalog, the International HundredK+ Cohorts Consortium (IHCC) Data Atlas, and the Canadian VirusSeq Data Portal. Under Dr. Yung’s strategic directions, the software supporting these data platforms are available in an open-source suite called Overture.

Dr. Yung received her Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, and her PhD and Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
